1982: B.S. Zhejiang Fisheries University. Academic Training
1987: 4 months training course in Aquaculture, Fish Physiology and Prevention
of Epizootics, National Fisheries University, Japan;
1989: 4 months training course in Aquaculture, Fish Nutrition and Feeding Technology,
Fish Nutrition Lab., Saint Pee Hydrobiological Station, INRA, France;
1996: 3 months Aquaculture Training Programme, Dept. of Fisheries and Allied
Aquaculture, Auburn University, U.S.A
Research Interests: Aquaculture (carp polyculture system); Nutrition and feeding in Fish and Crustacean; Aquatic Resource Assessment.
Experience:
1982-1986: Research Associate, mainly engaged in national research projects:
Studies on pond Chinese carp culture system, won the 1st grade provincial sci-tech
progress achievement award and 3rd grade national sci-tech progress achievement
award;
Studies on the quality standard for fry and fingerlings of black carp and grass
carp; Feasibility studies on the project of developing aquaculture in the low-lying
saline-alkaline wasteland, Zhejiang Province (World Food Programme project).
1987-1989: Assistant Professor, Studies in National Fisheries University, Japan
and Hydrobiological Station, INRA, France; Engaged in feasibility studies on
the coastal land aquaculture development (World Bank project) and technical
management of the project; In charge of provincial key project: Studies on pond
ecological system for Chinese carp culture.
1990-1995:Assistant Professor, Assistant director, vice-director and director
general of ZIFF: (1) in charge of national fisheries project: Studies on nutrition,
formulated pellets and feed additives of grass carp, crucian carp and bullfrog,
won several provincial sci-tech progress achievement award; (2) Engaged in international
cooperation project: Studies on reservoir resource assessment for silver carp
and bighead (U.K); feeding trial for the comparison between 80:20 pond culture
system and traditional pond culture system for Chinese carp(USA).
1996-to date: Associate professor, Professor and Director General of ZIFF: (1)
in charge of research project: studies on the effect of aquaenzyme supplement
on the formulated pellets of black carp, crucian carp and common carp - replacement
of fish meal by plant source protein(soybean); (2) in charge of international
project: Effect of feed-based hatchery
and traditional pond production technologies on the advanced fry production
performance of crucian carp; Studies on the proper feed size for crucian carp
fry and fingerlings.
Membership: Council member of China Society of Fisheries; Vice-chairman of Fish Nutrition and Feeding Technology Committee, China Society of Fisheries; Full member of Asian Fisheries Society; Deputy Chairman of Freshwater Fisheries Committee and standing member of Council, Zhejiang Society of Fisheries.
