Agriculturist (B.Sc., 1967), Hydrobiologist (M.Sc., 1972), Ichthyologist (Ph.D., 1975), Post Doc studies on Fish Haematology, Physiology of Nutrition, Applied Genetics and Integrated Aquaculture Systems (Sweden 1975, USA 1982). Temporary (1977) and Full Professor (1980) of Agricultural University of Athens, teaching modules of Applied Hydrobiology (Aquaculture), within the frame of Studies Program of the Faculty of Animal Science. Founder and Director of the Department of Applied Hydrobiology. Research activities mainly focused on issues related to Fish Physiology and especially on the factors influencing fish growth rate under controlled rearing conditions. The understanding of Fish Stress mechanisms and species Ethology, through the reaction of their neuro-endocrinological systems, in association with their feeding habits and nutritional status, is his current major research area during the last decade.

International activities: mostly related to the evaluation of natural water bodies for aquaculture activities, evaluation of research projects funded by international and european organizations, academic issues and participating in conferences and workshops (Europe, Asia, Africa).

Publications: About 40 scientific papers on general hydrobiology, as well as on fish controlled production issues published in international magazines. Books: "The Aquatic Environment and Life", 350 pp, 1980, 1984, 1990, 1994, 1996, "Introduction to Aquaculture", 594 pp, 1985, 1997, "Agricultural Hydrobiology", 229 pp, 1986, "Aquacultural Constructions", 600 pp, 1989, "Biology and Farming of Aquatic Animals", 230 pp, 1994, "Fish Endocrinology", 600 pp, 1998.
