Dr Kaushik had his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from the Presidency College, University of Madras, India. Since 1977, when he obtained his Doctor of Science degree, he has been with INRA (Institut National de la Recherche Agrnomique), France, where he is Director of Research. He is the director of both the Hydrobiology Research Unit of INRA and of the Fish Nutrition Laboratory, a twin research unit between INRA and IFREMER. An active member of the Fish nutrition committee of the IUNS (International Union of Nutritional Sciences) since 1981, he is the past-chairman and advisor of this committee. He is also a member of different scientific societies : American Inst of Nutrition, Association Francaise de Nutrition, Japanese society for scientific fisheries, World Aquaculture Society, Academy of Agriculture, France. He is also a member of the editorial boards of several journals of interest to aquaculture. He is also the current moderator of Aquaculture within the European Society for Comparative Physiology and Biochemistry. He has to his credit more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and an equal number of communications in international gatherings. Deeply committed to aquaculture nutrition, he actively participates in teaching and contributes through his counsels both in France and abroad.
