Andrew Boghen is Professor of Biology and former Director of the Department of Biology and of the Environmental Sciences Research Centre at the University of Moncton. Dr. Boghen obtained his Ph.D. in biology from Dalhousie University with concentrations in parasitology and marine biology. His research interests are in the fields of ecophysiology, parasitology and aquaculture of marine shellfish. Dr. Boghen participated in the establishment of the Federal Aquaculture Development Strategy for Canada. He places special importance on the need to form working alliances between scientists, industry and stakeholders.

Dr. Boghen directs a multi-community, multi-disciplinary, environment and resource enhancement program in eastern New Brunswick - Richibucto Environment and Resource Enhancement Project (REREP). It brings together university and government experts and ensures close working arrangements with voluntary organizations and stakeholders from coastal communities. The REREP project is also part of a Bilateral Agreement between Canada and Germany in the area of Integrated Coastal Zone Management.

Dr. Boghen is a founding member of the Aquaculture Association of Canada (AAC) and recently completed his mandate as President of the organization. He is Editor of the book - Cold-Water Aquaculture in Atlantic Canada, a document that has become a major reference used by all the Atlantic Canadian academic and research institutions, which include aquaculture and fisheries as part of their curricula. Dr. Boghen presided over AAC's Millennial Conference, Aquaculture Canada 2000 that was hosted by the University of Moncton in collaboration with other partners.
